Subcontracted to CNC Machining to upgrade the Craven mill at Liberty GFG in the Central Engineering workshop. The Craven Mill is a Russian made machine in 1939. Working with CNC Machining engineers the task involved removing motors, gearboxes, drive shafts, lead screws and electrical equipment and replace with a Ball Screw, new motors and couplings, bearing housings & scales. A challenging project which encountered numerous challenges due to engineers not being able to access the full requirement of scope for the upgrade. Many of the components that were predesigned and manufactured had to be modified or redesigned and fabricated and machined again. Craven Mill upgrade to CNC 2019
